Foo Fighters: Post Tour review – Josh Hom

Foo Fighters will play a huge outdoor show in February in support of their new album, Post Tour with a guest appearance from Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. The set is the first in a series of weekends curated by Dave Grohl to welcome different bands to various landmarks around the world.

“I love hearing, ‘Oh yeah, Dave. I love your music, it reminds me of your dad.’ There’s a real connection there,” Dave Grohl told Rolling Stone . “If you have a punk-rock heart, this is for you.”

Post Tour is Foo Fighters’ first studio album of new material since 2011’s Wasting Light, the band’s last studio album to include Grohl and singer-guitarist Pat Smear.

New songs, “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” and “The Sky is a Neighborhood”, are executive produced by Paul Epworth, who produced Dave Grohl’s EP Stories by Numbers and the Foo Fighters’ Grammy-winning album Wasting Light. To coincide with the December 5 release of “The Sky is a Neighborhood”, Grohl created a short story about the song’s fictional protagonist, named Gavin, who experiences “a transformative experience.”

The band shot videos for all four songs during their Crossroads Festival trek with Queens of the Stone Age that ran this summer. They filmed “The Sky is a Neighborhood” at a park in Eugene, Oregon, “The Sky is a Neighborhood” in a gravel-covered field in upstate New York, “The Sky is a Neighborhood” in a forest at Michigan’s Henry Ford museum and “The Sky is a Neighborhood” at Woody Guthrie’s house in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Foo Fighters will continue touring to support Post Tour with 10 sold-out shows in the US before embarking on a stretch of performances in Europe in the spring and early summer of 2019.
