Police: Woman Commits Stabbing on Subway, Then Gets Brutalized by Suspect

A woman on a subway train in downtown Toronto came face-to-face with a suspect who stabbed her and then sped off, leaving a man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, authorities said Monday.

The victim, 39, was on the subway car as the train made its way to Bathurst station shortly before noon Monday, when the suspect approached her, police said.

The suspect is described as a female between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, with a large build and long black hair, police said. She also has a small scar on her forehead.

Police said the victim told them she did not see what prompted the attack, which has been ruled as “unprovoked.”

“I can tell you that it was very, very vicious. And it really surprised us,” said Const. Jamieson Thompson.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police on Monday night were investigating the apparent motive for the attack.

Police released surveillance footage of the alleged attacker, saying the footage could help them determine what happened.

KTLA’s Pete Williams and Al Cannatella contributed to this report.
